Hutspot Tips | April

Each month, we share our favorite places to go, things to eat, things to see and experiences you must enjoy. We will also share with you awesome and innovating new companies, artists and entrepeneurs to keep an eye on. These are our five Hutspot Tips for April.

Koala Republic
The Jan Evertsenstraat in Amsterdam-west just gained a new hidden gem: Koala Republic. At Koala Republic, they feel that everyone has the right to have healthy food and coffee and we couldn’t agree more. The coffee beans are roasted by their neighbors White Label Coffee and they serve healthy food that is accessible for everyone. Whether you came to work on your laptop or just got back from a 5K run and are looking for some down-time; Koala Republic got you covered!

One of the things that makes Koala Republic unique is their sense for aesthetics. The interior is clean (you know how much we love a clean interior), experimenting with white, orange and wood. However, what makes this place stand out most are the extremely high seats. Koala Republic literally makes you climb like a koala to get to your table. And then those little swings for your feet: Get Koala’ing!
You can find Koala Republic at Jan Evertsenstraat 115.

Goldfrapp – Silver Eye
Electronic music duo Goldfrapp have just released their seventh album, called Silver Eye. Anymore, which is Silver Eye’s lead single, already made everyone at the Hutspot office enthusiastic because of its superb electronic sound, sensual melody and catchy chorus. And with such a strong visual album cover and endearing music video, you got us excited!

The rest of the album shows the duo at its best. They have managed to combine different parts of their musical identity and put it into one distinctive sound that feels new, still comfortably Goldfrapp.

Here Comes the Summer Festival
The people behind Into The Great Wide Open Festival, held each September on Vlieland, organize a smaller version that you might not have heard about. It’s called Here Comes the Summer.

“Time to go out. Time to discover what fun is about”. We can imagine that the combination of music, art and theatre on a sunny day indeed seems like loads of fun! Perhaps you could go for the wine tasting on Saturday or maybe join one of the music performances. The Festival is located at camping Stortemelk, from Friday the 28th till Sunday the 30th.

Andrea Ponti’s Shadows in the Windows chairs
Italian designer Andrea Ponti, who is currently living in Hong Kong, has designed eight different chairs. The chairs are made from steel and are attached to a square outline that represents a window frame. Each chair is slightly different, some featuring ‘stairs’ that lead up to the seat. One chair curves away from the frame, like a bench. The chairs are a reference to Hong Kong’s architectural landscape, like the grids of windows that appear in city apartment blocks and skyscrapers.

The collection will be shown during Milan design week, which is from the 4th till the 9th of April at Foro Buonaparte 65 in Milan.

De Fruithaven Rotterdam
Imagine a huge warehouse in Rotterdam, right in the middle of an industrial area. Can you picture it? De Fruithaven, the first zero-waste club in the Netherlands, will open its doors soon. Great parties guaranteed, but you will be able to find much more! Expect interactive art, science and (of course) some really good DJ’s like Benny Rodrigues, Paul Woodford and many more.

NEW NEW NEW

De Fruithaven will open its doors on the 14th of April, at the Galileistraat 15. The line-up of the opening night promises to be a night to remember! Check out the event here.
