Each month, we share our favorite places to go, things to eat, things to see and experiences you must enjoy. We will also share with you awesome and innovating new companies, artists and entrepreneurs to keep an eye on. These are our five tips for July.
My Dear Joyce by Harmen Meinsma
My Dear Joyce is a photography series by Rotterdam based photographer Harmen Meinsma. In the series, we see his muse Joyce in many peculiar and unconventional situations, aiming to showcase a beauty that is different from the norm. “Joyce embodies those who feel left out”, resembling a strong link to his grandmother who he remembers accepting him regardless of his sexuality when growing up. Follow Harmen @harmenmeinsma.
Koffie Leute in Utrecht
Koffie Leute is a quiet and comfy specialty coffee bar, located in multidisciplinary building DRUK. Praised by locals as one of the best coffee places in Utrecht, they aim to change their bean suppliers on a regular basis to keep offering the best in filter and slow-coffee. We recommend to sit outside in the morning sun and enjoy one of their delicious cakes. Feeling a bit competitive? Try out the Super Nintendo with Mario Kart! Visit Koffie Leute at Westerkade 3o in Utrecht.

Polluted Water Popsicles
Three students from the National Taiwan University of the Arts have managed to turn pollution into art. Hung I-chen, Guo Yi-hui and Cheng Yu-ti have created Polluted Water Popsicles, an array of frozen treats from polluted water. The trio collected water from 100 locations in Taiwan, first freezing the samples and then preserving them in polyester resin. The result is a stunning collection of 100 beautiful, but inedible popsicles of different colors and different pollutants.
Roffa Mon Amour
Roffa Mon Amour is an open air film festival that provides a platform for rising cinematic talent. Every summer, Roffa Mon Amour converts the former train station at Hofplein Rotterdam into a place where filmmakers around the world are celebrated. From July 19th, you can pay the event a visit and see one movie each day! More information here.
Something To Tell You by Haim
It has been almost four years since Haim’s debut album Days are Gone. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait any longer. Their second LP Something to Tell You is set to release on July 7th. First single ‘Want You Back’ is a spirited pursuit of a former lover that resonates a strong Fleetwood Mac influence. Second single ‘Right Now’ is a mellow tune that exhibits Haim’s deft ears for sound. Once you give these two a listen, there is no way you can sit still until the 7th of July! Follow Haim @haimtheband.
