Texas Schiffmacher | Hutspot Music

Welcome to our newest item on our blog: Hutspot Music! For this item we ask musicians, photographers and many other creatives to put together a music playlist for us. For our first edition, we asked Texas Schiffmacher, the daughter of the well known tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher. Texas is 24 years old and an Amsterdam based photographer.

How important is music to you?
Well, to be honest I think I would be severely depressed, and even on the verge of crying when I lose my headphones. That’s how important music is to me.

Who do you look up to/inspires you?
Hunter S. Thompson, an American journalist and author. and Jim Morrison, the late lead singer of the Doors.

We asked you to put together a playlist for us, what was the first song that came into mind and why?
I first wanted to make a blues playlist, but suddenly it started freezing outside! So I needed some upbeat angry music for when my fingers freeze off. But at the same time I need enough motivation to go out and drink, haha.

What was the last piece of music you bought?
My most recent “emotional drunk iTunes purchase” was Elton John – Tiny dancer. And the Law and Order theme song.

Music is often about memories. Can you pick one song from the playlist and tell a memory about it?
I picked The Stooges- No Fun. This song always reminds me of bad public transportation. A Horrible bus ride into London, or barely catching a train to San Diego. Coincidently, I’m always listening to that song.

Best love song of all time?
Definitely David Bowie – Heroes

What are you working on right now? And where can we find your work?
I’m currently working on a website, so people can find my work.
